Hibiscus tea checks all the boxes as something that is both good and good for you. This sweet-tart tea is made by steeping dried parts of the red hibiscus plant (particularly the flowers) in water. It can be enjoyed hot or cold, but we’re particular fans of steeping it in cold water to glean all of its many benefits.
Hibiscus is packed with antioxidants and loaded with Vitamin C. One of its key properties is its ability to lower blood pressure. Researchers have found that the tea may lower both systolic and diastolic blood pressure.
*This tea works well on its own, but may interfere with the efficacy of prescribed blood pressure medication.
Hibiscus tea has also been found to lower the fat levels in blood, and can assist with heart health. Some studies have shown that hibiscus tea may reduce blood cholesterol and triglycerides in people with diabetes and metabolic syndrome. It may also benefit liver health, which can help flush out your body easily and more effectively.
