How’s your holiday season going? If you’re like millions of others, this is the time when stress levels are the highest as we work to bring family, friends and cheer into one cohesive idea. It’s very common for hours, days and even weeks to run together with seemingly no relief in sight. It’s normal to feel overwhelmed, but a few simple steps may help you make the the most of every moment.
1) STOP,TAKE STOCK AND WRITE IT DOWN
This might seem time consuming, but the minutes you invest in laying out a plan can save you hours down the line. Try dictating a ‘to do’ list on your phone the night before, for the following day. Keep your lisst it realistic; try not to assign yourself more than 5-6 things to do at a time. Start with the simple things and work your way up to those tasks that have multiple moving parts.
2) ASK FOR HELP
We all think we can go it alone. But we can get so much more done when we do it together. Something as simple as asking a friend to pick up an item during their regular route can make all the difference. That’s one less trip you have to make, and more time for you to tackle the complicated stuff.
3) FORGIVE YOURSELF
There’s a pretty good chance that everything isn’t going to be perfect, and that’s okay. Try celebrating your wins instead of dwelling on what you think ought to be. Focus on the good things. No matter what happens, it’s enough. You are enough.
